Eating my way to great hair, skin and nails sounds incredibly more appealing than some of the other beauty tricks I have tried! Walnuts, flaxseed, chia seeds and hemp seeds are some of the highest non-fish sources of omega 3 fatty acids. I combined all these beautifying ingredeints into one easy snack that not only tastes great, but will help you look great :). I feel limiting dairy, staying well hydrated and upping omega 3’s are some simple, yet very effective ways to naturally improve the look of your skin, diminish breakouts, strengthen and shine your hair, and have harder/faster growing nails.
I don’t know about you, but I am much more likely to eat one of these daily than take a supplement. I am a firm believer in getting as many nutrients from my diet as I can. I realize supplements are usually necessary as well, and take a few mysel, but try to keep my diet as nutrient dense as I can. Some days are better than others..:).
Do you guys have any favorite beauty products you cannot live without? I have linked some of mine in my natural beauty products section. Ancona and Andalou are some of my favorites. I also just tired Skin Food by Weleda and LOVE IT!
I hope my beauty balls make you feel incredible inside and out! When we feel good about ourselves it tends to shine through and become infectious to those around us. I challenge you to pick out three (or more!) beautiful things about yourself. Maybe it’s your warm presence, your infectious laugh, a darn good apple pie, your rockin legs :), etc. It is so important to have self compassion and remind yourself how awesome and capable you are. I won’t get on my soap box…but with social media I feel we can easily get caught comparing ourselves to others, versus focusing on how great we are. I am guilty of this, but try to be conscious of it and remove myself from a negative headspace whenever I find myself there. It’s much more beneficial for us all to focus on OUR OWN STORY, and not how it may not be as great as someone else’s.
I hope you all have a BEAUTIFUL day!
Prep Time 20 Minutes
Chill Time 60 Minutes
Total Time 80 Minutes
Servings 12-16 Balls
Ingredients
• 1 cup walnuts, chopped, roasted and unsalted
• 1/2 coconut shredded, unsweetened
• 1/4 cup coconut flour
• 1/4 cup collagen peptide protein powder
• 1 tablespoon chia seeds
• 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
• 1 tablespoon hemp seeds
• 1 tablespoons dairy free milk
• 2 tablespoons maple syrup at room temperature *
• 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted and cooled
Instructions
1.Place walnuts and shredded coconut in bowl of food processor fitted with standard “S”blade. Pulse a few times, then run on low for ~10-15 seconds until mixture is finely ground. It should not be to the point of walnut butter, but very fine. This helps the balls hold together well. Process for longer if needed.
2. Add coconut flour, collagen peptides, chia, flaxseed and hemp seeds to the walnut mixture. Pulse approximately 10 times to combine.
3. Lastly add coconut milk, maple syrup and oil to the food processor. Run on low until mixture forms into a ball and begins to pull away from the sides of processor, about 15-20 seconds.
4. Scoop balls of mixture with a mini or standard cookie scoop, depending on your serving preference. Roll into balls between palms. You may have to push mixture together with your fingers some. Feel free to add a teaspoon more of milk or coconut flour if too dry or wet. I found the above to be just right.
5. Repeat until ball mixture is gone.
6. You may take it a step further and roll the balls in unsweetened shredded coconut to jazz them up a little :).
7. Chill in airtight container for 60 minutes and enjoy!
8. Store extra balls covered in fridge
Recipe Notes
• You may sub the collagen peptides for any protein powder of choice
• You may use any liquid sweetener in replace of maple syrup
